Frequently Asked Questions
Where are we located?
We meet in the building of Sacred City Church, located at 1811 18th Street, Bettendorf, IA. Our main entrance is on the southernmost side of the building, used by students and visitors throughout the school day.
What are our hours of operation?
The NCCA school day is Monday-Friday between 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
What grades are offered at NCCA?
New City Classical Academy offers a half-day Pre-K class (MWF), a half-day Kindergarten (M-F), and 1st - 12th grade education options.
How is NCCA different from other Christian schools?
NCCA is pursuing accredited member status through the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS).
ACCS accreditation is much more rigorous than ACCS “member” status.
ACCS accreditation is among the most challenging of any accreditation in K-12 education, classical or conventional. ACCS schools conform to rigorous classical Christian academic practices and philosophy. No other accreditor provides this assurance to parents. Our accredited schools operate independently of state or federal governance.
ACCS emphasizes Classical Christian education (CCE) using a time-tested educational system which establishes a biblical worldview (called paideia), incorporates methods based on natural phases of child development, cultivates the seven Christian virtues, trains students in reasoning through the Trivium (Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric), and engages children in “the great conversation” through the historical Great Books.
Do NCCA students wear uniforms?
Yes, NCCA students wear uniforms in compliance with our NCCA Uniform Guide.
How many students are in each class?
Class sizes vary depending on the grade or subject taught, though most classes are between 10-18 students.
What is the cost of NCCA’s tuition?
Although a rigorous Classical Christian education is always a worthwhile investment, we strive to make this education accessible to families regardless of socio-economic background. We’re proud to offer a great education at a lower cost than most private QC-based schools. The majority of our students receive funding through Iowa’s ESA Program, which covers most tuition costs. For more information regarding ESAs, please visit the ESAsForIowa.com site or the Iowa DOE Students First Education Savings Account (ESA) page.
Will NCCA have athletics programs?
NCCA does not currently offer athletic programs, but we have a cooperative agreement with Bettendorf Community School District which allows NCCA students to play on Bettendorf Middle School and Bettendorf High School teams.
